Temple Bar Gallery & Studios is to host a feast for both the ears and the eyes with its upcoming Summer Lightning benefit gig on July 10th. Far from the maddening crowd of hen parties and tourists that make up the usual Saturday night thoroughfare of Temple Bar, the gig will offer live music from some of Dublin's most exciting acts together with video performances from resident artists.

Headline act The Jimmy Cake will perform on a specially erected stage in the gallery, alongside special guests Patrick Kelleher and The Boys of Summer. On the third floor, Dublin DJs Skinny Wolves, and live acts Sasparilla and Crayonsmith will play sets while patrons take in views of the city. The night promises to a cultural tour de force with visuals in the formof live video performances by resident studio artists Anita Delaney, Terry Markey and others. Headliners The Jimmy Cake may rival the Sugababes when it comes to changing band members, but they are returning to the stage this year with their experimental instrumental sound after the critical success of 2008's Spectre & Crown.

Temple Bar Gallery & Studios is opening its doors for the benefit gig “not only to raisefunds for the gallery but also to give the public a chance to use the space in a new way". The building's gallery space and 30 studios house artists from a broad range of practices, and by bringing music to its floors, the purveyors are hoping to establish the gallery as a multidisciplinary venue.

Doors will open at 7.30pm on the night and tickets priced at €15 (including one free drink) will be available at the door. All proceeds go towards Temple Bar Gallery & Studios. The event is taking place in association with the Temple Bar Cultural Trust’s ‘Summer Sensational’ Festival which will be hosting a number of cultural events in Temple Bar over the weekend of the 8th - 11th June.
