![]() When you look at the fact that the band hated their lead singer for the better part of 5 years, the Pussycat Dolls have called it quits! The pop group, founded in 1995, only came to fame ten years later. Throughout their existence the group has been criticised for projecting an overly sexual image and explicit dance routines. Aside from that, their lead singer - Nicole Scherzinger, came under scrutiny for singing the songs and not sharing the "spotlight" with the others. This is why, the rest of the group came to disliking Nicole. There is yet another "little" problem with the band's image. In 2006 the group ran into trouble in Kuala Lumpur with the local authorities on account of dancing too "explicitly" on stage again. In turn, the promotion company, in charge of the band's appearance in Malaysia was fined $3000 for the incident. So here we are now, 15 years down the lane of money and fame and the first of the dolls, Jessica Sutta, departed the group on January 29. When interviewed for the reason, Ms Sutta stated: "Nicole is a star. She always wanted to be a star. I basically felt like nothing more than a glorified back-up dancer after seven years with the group. Nicole sings all the vocals. It wasn't a joyfull experience." On February 26th, Kimberley Wyatt was the next to leave the band shortly followed by Ashley Roberts. With the departure of her co-stars, Nicole said in an interview with MTV that she is still in the group and that a new CD release is on the way later this year: "I don't know if I'm gonna put it under my name yet or if it's going to be perfect for the Dolls. It doesn't matter. I just want to make great music for the fans." The new album will consist of a lot of pop music and some rock elements. So maybe there's still some hope left for the new Doll. |
